FRAGRANCES – TIPS & TRICKS

Perfume can be worn not only to enhance your fashion identity, but also to make a pleasant lasting impression. Here are a few creative ways to impress with your scent:

Spray your favorite perfume onto your hair brush before brushing your hair. It will last even longer than on your skin. Do not spray the fragrance directly, due to it could damage your hair.

To make the fragrance lasting, you should mist fragrance on your pulse points. Familiar spots such as your neck and wrists are great areas to mist, but to really make your scent last, try hitting these other pulse points too:  the back of the legs, specifically behind your knees;  the area just above your hip bones;  nape of your neck; cleavage,  small of your back;  insides of the elbows.

Apply an unscented antiperspirant so it does not clash with your perfume.

If you like to spray some perfume on your clothing, test it on hidden area of your garment first, such as an inner lining before spraying it all over. Be particularly careful with delicate and dry clean only fabrics as well as light colored clothing.

Apply your perfume far from your jewelry because this can damage them. Pearls can become discolored, while other jewelry can lose its outer covering.

Do you want to make your house smelling like you? It's easy: spray your favorite perfume on artificial flowers.

Do you wish to send a mail with your “brand”?  Spray stationary or greeting cards with some perfume or cologne – yours or the recipient’s favorite. Place them in a plastic bag, seal it and leave overnight. Send your letters or cards with a scented touch.

PHEROMONES – LOVE AT FIRST SNIFF

When we are saying ‘love at first sight’, it should be ‘love at first sniff ’!

Believe it or not, scent has a lot to do with your attraction to and for the opposite sex. Every species emits potent chemical signals that can have profound effects on the same species that surround them.

Have you ever noticed a guy who, although not extremely good-looking or highly stimulating, seems to attract women by the dozens? Chances are that his naturally occurring pheromone release is higher and more detectable than yours.

People are attracted to others with different immune systems and tissue that they have, suggesting that we naturally are attracted to people whose genetics make desirable mixes with their own.

Almost all living things produce pheromones for different purposes. Some plants release Alarm Pheromones when they are eaten that make neighboring plants produce tannin, something that makes the plants less appetizing to the herbivore eating them. A dog marking his territory is depositing pheromones that mark perimeters for other animals. Ants find their way back home by following their trail of pheromones.

Most importantly to us, though, are the pheromones that have effects on human beings. Ever wonder why women who spend a lot of time together begin to menstrual cycle together? It is very common on best friends and it is called the "McClintock Effect", and it happens because specific pheromones are released during the month, synchronizing with those being released around them.

Extracts from the underarm sweat of men has been proven to release chemicals in women’s brains that positively effect their mood and emotions, reducing tension and increasing relaxation. The same chemicals positively effect women’s menstrual cycle and fertility. When women are ovulating, they are even more attracted to men’s pheromones.

Some information will tell you that we wash off the powerful pheromones that attract the opposite sex, but really, it is fresh sweat that produces some of the most powerful pheromones, not the old sweat, which causes bad body odor. So don’t think that shying away from showers will win you a lady, because exactly the opposite is true. Freshly showered men and women are very sexually alluring. Plus, it doesn’t take much to get a man’s body temperature up enough to produce the super sexy pheromones that women respond to.

On the end of this large discussion, body chemistry plays a large role in terms of whom we are sexually attracted to and our noses speak loudly to our souls. All of us, and women in particular, end up relying quite deeply on our noses for some of the most fundamental decisions in our lives.
We are also very attracted by artificial fragrances and anyone can mask his natural body odor with fragrance and lure biologically compatible women to him/men to her, that way.

Since at least the time of the Egyptians, we have been adorning ourselves with scent for the purpose of attraction. Men and women differ in terms of how much of a role scent plays in their sexual attraction towards one another. The specific fragrances a woman will be most attracted to have to do with her own personal and cultural history with the scent and its constituents – so unfortunately, there is no magic bullet formula for creating the next super hit men’s or women’s fragrance.

UNISEX FRAGRANCES

In the first place, gender can vary according to the experience of a specific culture. A floral scent that is considered feminine in one culture can be worn by men in another. Secondly, letʼs remember that, despite our gender, we all have a feminine and a masculine sides and a very unique, personal, experience of life. Essential oils have different properties that we can use to balance our emotions, and why not, our “gender” connotations.

Some of the most well-known unisex perfumes in the world started out as a specified gender perfume, but over the course of time, with the advancements in lifestyle that lead into this new concept of bi-worn perfume - they realized that by a small change in the formula they can become a much higher selling product that will be aimed at both genders and get bought by both men and women.

Generally people think that it is more appropriate for women to use women perfume and for men to use men perfume. Perfume is about finding your own story. So, on the end, fragrance should be genderless.

In addition a lot many people have a phobia of using a unisex scent. This is because they are afraid of meeting a person of opposite sex who may have the same scent smell. This is impossible because the scent of your perfume mixes with YOUR BODY ODORS AND PHEROMONES. These have the quality of giving a different color and quality to the perfume scent. Thus there is NO chance that a man or a woman will have the same scent as you are wearing.

We made a very good selection of high-end brand name fragrances considered unisex.  Check it out:

Choosing your fragrance according to the seasons:

Perfume is a very personal and individual thing. One person’s favourite is another person’s headache. Some women and men have a favourite perfume they wear year in the year out. However there are so many beautiful perfumes on the market that by sticking to the same one they are denying themselves a multitude of beautiful perfumes.

Choosing the fragrance you wear is the same in many ways as the selections you make for your clothing. Making your choice according to the seasons allows the fragrance you wear to bear more of a compliment.
Follow these tips for choosing the best scent for the time of year you are thinking about.

You most likely can think of a scent that reminds you of each part of the year. Think about how the rain smells in the late hot days of summer or how the wood smoke smells outdoors in the evening. The fragrance you choose should remind you of the season best to wear it.

SPRING

The spring is generally evokes images of newborn kittens and the bright green grass. You might think about dandelions blooming in your yard. All of these images have in common a light and new feeling. The fragrance you wear in the spring should also be light and flowery as well. Consider how honeysuckles smell in warm spring air when choosing scents for this time of year.

Spring - Women:

Burberry London                Flower by Kenzo

Spring - Men:

CK Obsession                   Van Cleef & Arpels

SUMMER

Most people wear less clothing in the summer. This is the best time to wear lighter scents because you have more skin exposed to put it. However, keep in mind that hot weather can cause you to sweat more. Choose unscented deodorants and lotions to prevent the interruption of your perfume. In hotter temperatures, you might consider placing some of your fragrance on your clothing to prevent the loss of it due to sweating.

Summer - Women:

Flower Kenzo La Cologne               L'eau D'issey

Summer - Men:

Prada Infusion                      L'eau D'issey

AUTUMN

The late summer brings along with it the craving for autumn. Autumn might make you think about pumpkin pie or the warm colors of the leaves on trees. This is the time of year to wear wool sweaters and flannel shirts, so choosing a slightly stronger fragrance is a good idea. The thicker your clothing, the harder it is for a scent to pass through it.

Autumn - Women:

Versace Bright Crystal                Carolina Herrera

Autumn - Men:

Versace Pour Homme                       212 Men

WINTER

Spicy, musky scents are the best choices for the fall and winter months. These are the times of year for cuddling and sitting in front of the fire. Think about how you would like to smell when close to the one you love. Warm, sensual scents are the perfect choice for cold weather.

Winter - Women:

212 Sexy Women              Ange ou Demon Le Secret

Winter - Men:

Eau de Lacoste Rouge               Le Male Terrible

No matter what scent you choose to wear, making sure it is the one most compatible with your body and natural scent is important. Take your time to learn which one works best for you by testing several brands.

Find out the answers to your doubts regarding tester products and save money!

A tester is a version of a fragrance that comes without the fancy, retail packaging. Tester versions come in the same bottle as the retail version and include the same amount and quality of fragrance. The testers you see on our website are direct from the manufacturer and have never been used.

If you would like to save money on a fragrance for yourself, consider purchasing the tester version of your brand. Please be aware that not all brands have testers available.

What to Expect:

In most cases, a tester fragrance will come in a plain white or cardboard box. However, some designers will reduce production costs by distributing their tester products unboxed and without caps. By cap we mean the decorative top, the spray nozzle comes with all spray fragrances (e.g. aftershave or splash fragrances don't come with sprayers).

So, there are four ways that a tester can be packaged and sold:

. Manufacturer plain box with a cap.
. Manufacturer plain box without a cap.
. Unboxed with a cap.
. Unboxed without a cap.

Common Misconceptions about Testers:

1. Testers are used or they don't come with the full amount of fragrance. FALSE
2. Testers are not the real fragrance. FALSE
3. Testers don't come with sprayers, so the liquid will leak out. FALSE
4. Testers are illegal to sell since most say "Not for Resale". FALSE

The above statements are all false. Testers come full and unused, they are all 100% genuine, they come with the spray nozzle (if it is originally supposed to) and they are perfectly legal to sell.

Applying the right amount of fragrance

Applying the right amount of cologne could be tricky if you really like the scent. But you, being a responsible cologne wearer, want to know the best method for applying cologne for different situations.

When applying cologne there are some things that you need to consider:

Indoors:   Do not spray directly on the skin. Walk into the mist or spray directly above you.

Outdoors:   If it is windy or there is going to be a lot of movement, spray once directly onto the skin. The fresh air will dilute the scent but it will still warm up with your body when you need it.

Closeness:   If you are going to be sitting shoulder to shoulder with people for a long while, the best advice is to not use cologne at all. You can use an aftershave or body wash which will have less fragrant oils.
Spray in the air in front of you and walk into the mist.
Spray above your head so the mist falls on the top of your head, which can get stinky.

Tips about your fragrance:

Do not dilute your cologne so that you can spray it directly to your skin. Doing this will change the balance of your cologne and make the fragrance spoil quickly over time.

A fragrance is not designed to last all day. You will probably need to update it every three to four hours, depending on the chemical changes in your body daily, that reflect on your skin, as well as the kind of concentration of the fragrance:

Perfume (Parfum): up to 6 hours
Parfum De Toilette (PDT): Up to 5 hours
Eau de parfum (EDP): 3 to 5 hours
Eau de Toilette (EDT): 2 to 4 hours
Eau de Cologne (EDC): up to 2 hours
For Men Eau de Toilette (EDT): Up to 5 hours
Aftershave / after-shave lotion: 2 to 3 hours
Eau Fraîche: 2 to 3 hours

Can a perfume be aphrodisiac?

One of the most ubiquitous questions consumers have in mind when deciding on a fragrance is:

Can a perfume be an aphrodisiac?
Is there such a thing as a “love potion”?

Since the beginning of human history scent has proved the ability to kindle passion and eroticism. Think Cleopatra ascending the Nile on her barge of incense designed to announce her arrival...and seduce Mark Antony.

Scent can certainly make you feel sexier but there is no scientific evidence to suggest that fragrance is actually an aphrodisiac. Smell is obviously linked to our sexuality and some experts believe that hormones released from glands in the groin and armpit act as powerful sexual attractants in the way that pheromones released by animals do. The sense of confidence the right perfume can give, plus the attractive chemical cocktail it helps create, can certainly be a great turn-on.

After all, two people cannot maintain a relationship if the don't like each others’ smell.
